Bed and Breakfast Grandma's Tearoom Recipes Island Made Giftshop Blog Home
Year after year we visited PEI on a budget. Each year we had a dream in mind, and that was to move to the Island. We made that dream happen and almost went broke doing it. The memory of that old farm house with sunflower yellow walls is still ingrained in my mind. The first year was hard, money was tight and I don't remember buying the kids extras or treats. I had to do something to off set the bills. A Bed and Breakfast was my only answer. I had a mission, I wanted to make sure and give others an affordable place to stay, after all I'm home from away. I'm frugal and make due with a lot and I guess that is why I remember a conversation with mom before she died, she said, "I know money is tight, but don't skimp on the quality of beds" she said, "people might not remember where they stayed but they will remember if they had a good sleep." Thanks mom, you were right!
"Hi! I'm Cindy and I'll be your innkeeper."
Prince Edward Island may be a tiny province however, her beauty abounds. Coming from a big city, I now appreciate watching the sun set in the ocean and the red dirt (earth) glowing off of Green Gables Shore.
You can tell I"m a country girl by my garden, my habits, my decorating and my cooking. I'm a mother of three and a grandmother to 6 beautiful girls, Hannah, Makayla, Anna-Grace, Emily Elizabeth, Sydney Elaine and Anna-Rae. My hobbies are scrapbooking, beading, sewing, baking, and photography to name a few. I opened a small gift shop in the B&B where I sell Island Made souvenirs. My family collection of tea cups and saucers are used daily in our Grandma's Tea Room. Read what others have said about Grandma's Afternoon Tea Room. I'm a wife to a my grass cutting, weed pulling, lift heavy things and squash big bugs kind of guy who inspires my every idea. Guests often ask why I moved to the Island? It's simple; the island represents favourable memories I cherished growing up.
"Hi! I'm Guy, and when I'm not taking care of one of Cindy's "Oh, Guy I have an idea," I'm either making an awesome espresso, being helpful with your vacation plans, or helping cyclists find their way on the trail.
My story is shorter.
In February 2009 I retired with 35 years as a Civil Servant. "My job?" looking after the needs of other people's. Call it a B&B, Bed and Breakfast, or a Tourist Home, now that I'm retired, I'm spending more time helping Cindy take care of your needs. We have both worked many years in the food service industry and practice the meaning of quality service. My hobbies, when I get a minute, are: gardening, woodworking, and perfecting the art of fine espresso. I enjoy a good conversation about politics, tourism, cycling, farming, education, or whatever the topic of choice may be.
Our policy is "No Pets." Truly, we love all animals, but we can't allow pets at the B&B, (even our own pets are kept away with Invisible Fencing). This helps travelers with sensitivities enjoy an allergy free holiday.
Here are M'J & Braxton, they are like Bonnie and Clyde, traveling together and running after one thing or another when they get together.
M'J is a Border Collie and a rescue dog, she came to us after the passing of our 17-year old family dog. An underground electric fence allows her the freedom of her space while the guests have the freedom of their space. She is very friendly and if you have the chance of making acquaintance she will expect you to throw her ball for her. Remember that she won't cross over the underground fence so you may need to fetch her ball depending on how well you are able to throw.
Braxton is a pure breed Chihuahua. He has short visits during the summer months and you may encounter him. Braxton is fence, and obedient trained however because of this breed (timid) he spends most of his time hiding from others.
